Pittsburgh Penguins keep rolling

Posted on Tue, 2008-11-18 15:50 byadmin

It looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a great start this season and keep doing hat they do best, take over the third quarter. Last night's game against the Buffalo Sabres once again showcased the grit and determination of this talented team and put the Penguins win streak at six games. They go for seven straight tonight against the Wild. The Penguins have been able to comeback to win after trailing to start the third quarter a whopping six times total and four times in the past four games. The Pens were able to score four times in the final period.

''We don't panic,'' coach Michel Therrien said. ''That's the main thing. We play our game. We didn't want to change anything. ... If we keep playing like this, I'm not going to say we'll win every game, but we'll put ourselves in a good position to win the game,'' he said. Its been a fantastic season so far, and you have to admit that the Pens are giving Penguins ticket holders plenty to cheer for during three thrilling periods.

20-year-old Jordan Staal continues to produce after a slow start. The Canadian has seven goals and four assists in 17 games played. He also had a hat trick at Detroit. Miroslav Satan had 8 goals, while Evgeni Malkin has an incredible 23 assists. The Penguins are for now looking up at the New York Rangers in the Atlantic Division, I have a feeling that will change as the season progresses. Sidney Crosby has six goals and 16 assists for 12 points.

Look for plenty of action this coming week, as the Penguins have some big games coming up. After tonight nationally televised game (Versus) against Minnesota Wild, the Pens will take on the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday, the the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday and will go out to New York to play the Islanders next Wednesday, Nov. 26.
